The Tao, The Dao, The Way
The Living Order of the Universe
“We are a note in the symphony of the universe”
The word Qi means life-force, universal energy. In nature we observe the constant flow, rhythm, and never-ending cycles. Birth, life, death, the cycles in our bodies - the circulation system, circadian cycle, and our breath cycle.
The human body is part of a larger cosmos and follows the laws that apply to all matter. It is shaped by two flowing energies, Yin and Yang, which are opposed to each other but exist side-by-side and even within each other. A state of equilibrium is produced by harmonious interaction of the two energies.
Taichi and Qigong are ancient Chinese meditative and physical practices that balance Yin and Yang.
In my 90-minute classes, I guide students in understanding the essence of the living Tao—cultivating inner calm and harmony. We focus on quieting the mind and exploring the natural softness and flow within the body. We learn to apply this softness in both our practice and everyday life, embracing the mantra, “no effort, no force.”
